Searching Tips
You can search the database either by keywords or by the name of an agency or
its programs. Both types of searches allow you to either type in a selection or
choose from a drop-down list.
Keyword Searches
Keywords such as 'adoption, utility assistance or parenting have been attached
to each program. Keywords describe the type of service an agency offers. You
can search keywords in two ways.
Select 'Keyword' in the 'Search in' field and type a keyword into the
'Search for' box above.
Select a keyword from the drop-down list in the Browse Keywords section.
Agency/Program Searches
Each agency will have one or more programs attached to it. The programs
describe the individual services an agency provides along with details about
fees, eligibility requirements. Intake procedures, etc. You can search for
agencies and programs in two ways.
Select 'Programs & agencies' in the 'Search in' .field and type all or part
of the name in the Search for' box above.
Select an agency from the drop-down list in the Browse Agencies section.
Limiting searches
When using the 'Limit to' option you can find programs located in a particular
city. However, programs with physical addresses in one city or town may also
serve other areas, so you may not locate all services available to you using
this option.
Database Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria
Generally speaking the service must be accessible to the public. Accessibility implies a sliding fee scale (negotiable to $0) ensuring that services can be obtained by people who cannot afford private sector services. Organizations are considered for inclusion according to the following criteria:
Organizations which provide services in health, welfare, support, recreation, education or advocacy and are not-for-profit corporations (with Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3) status), or do not charge fees for service;
Government agencies (federal, state, county, city) which provide services in the areas of health, welfare, support, recreation, or education may also be included. No attempt will be made to list all governmental agencies or departments;
Organizations (such as churches and social clubs) which offer a service to the community at large (rather than requiring membership in the organization).
Self-help and mutual support groups;
Advocacy groups, Toll-free (800, 888) lines which provide a social/community service or information that can be accessed by Larimer County residents;
For-profit organizations are considered on an individual basis. Inclusion is based upon uniqueness of service, lack of comparable services available through not-for-profit agencies or groups, and degree of need for the service and the level of subsidized services available;
Inclusion of services available only to a limited target population will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
